Many of these expensive perfumes are priced so high that average consumers are not going to be able to ever afford these perfumes at all. These expensive perfumes are often more than what the average person earns a month or year.

Take for instance Clive Christian's signature scent. His masterpiece perfume creation is called No.1. The ingredients used in this perfume included the essential oil of ylang-ylang, which was grown in Madagascar; vanilla, natural gum resin, orris root, sandalwood and bergamot. So what makes this perfume expensive? Clive Christian put his perfume in a lead crystal bottle. He placed a 33-carat diamond around the bottle's neck. The cost of a 1-oz. No.1 perfume? A whopping $2,150.

Christian then proceeded to create a counterpart perfume, which he called Imperial Majesty. There were only 10 bottles made of this perfume. Each bottle is made from Baccarat crystal and boasted a sold 18-carat gold collar. The collar has a 5-carat white diamond embedded in it. Each bottle was filled with the No.1 perfume. A 16.90-oz. bottle of this perfume was sold for $215,000. To date, it's considered as the most expensive perfume in the world.

Caron's Poivre is another expensive perfume. The ingredients used to make this perfume include cloves, red and black pepper and other spices. This particular perfume can be used by both men and women and comes in a limited edition Baccarat crystal bottle. A 2-oz. bottle of this expensive perfume costs $2,000.

And who is not familiar with Chanel No.5? This is among the most expensive perfumes in the world. It may arguably be the best known perfume in history. Chanel No.5 is the first perfume to carry a fashion designer's name. Chanel No.5 has a clean, appealing fragrance, and when it was first introduced to the world in 1921, it set the benchmark for elite perfumes. Chanel No.5 perfume comes in an oversized crystal bottle, which makes this perfume stand out from the rest. Chanel No.5 is made from parfum, the purest form of perfume known. A 15.2-oz. bottle of Chanel No.5 costs $1,850.
